2017 Apriori Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

Tasting Notes
This cool climate Pinot Noir, sourced from superb vineyards in the Sonoma Coast, is a light red, ruby color and offers notes of a berry tart with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The palate is dry, seamless, savory, fresh, and salivating, with a long finish. Legendary winemaker Philippe Melka is well known throughout the world, having worked for such esteemed estates as Château Pétrus, Château Haut-Brion, Bryant Family and Dominus Estate.

The Hot spot for Cool-climate Pinot Noir
The Sonoma Coast AVA has become known for its exemplary cool-climate Pinot Noir. As a region it spans a considerable variety of topography and micro-climates. At it's northern edges vineyards occupy the steep, windy ridges that peak above the fog to look out over the Pacific.
At the heart of Sonoma Coast is a sheltered valley around Freestone where the vines bask in the day-time sun on the rolling hills and embrace the cool evening breezes that come with evening. Further south and extending eastward, the Petaluma Gap, which achieved its own AVA, occupies the "gap" between mountain ranges that channels the cool Pacific breezes southward toward the San Pablo Bay.
With such a combination of diversity and popularity, winemakers and growers are beginning to form distinctive regions and AVA within the area covered by the Sonoma Coast. As mentioned, the Petaluma Gap is one example. In addition, you'll begin to see a West Sonoma Coast AVA and there is movement underway for a sub-AVA within that area for Fort Ross/Seaview regions.
The way we look at, it's an opportunity to drink more Sonoma Coast Pinots - just to make sure we do our homework mind you.

Had a chance to do a tasting of APRIORI with my dear sister for HH yesterday. We found it to be a soft, easy on the pallet Pinot, a light springtime kind of red. Wouldn’t put it up against a steak but could easily go with a fresh fish meal. For those of us who like cool reds in the hot summer, this one would be really good.
Thank you for the review.
Just had this with some homemade Thai food and it stood up well to the spicy and aromatic offerings. The first taste is so typical Pinot but the body is full and round. Drinks way over this price point! ❤️
Thank you for your thoughts. I like the food pairing.
I enjoyed this wine just before having a flavorful dinner. Its bold and spicy beginning was a pleasant surprise that followed by a full bodied, fruity, satisfying smooth finish. I would drink this wine everyday, if I drank wine everyday!
Thank you for PrevViewing.
